A friend is like a trellis where I can climb,
grow and flourish, and be in my prime
A friend is like a park where it’s fun to play
I’m never ridiculed or chased away
A friend is like the bright sun in the sky
shining full blast though I laugh or cry
A friend is like having a gentle massage
kneading out the knots of self-sabotage
A friend is like snuggling in a down comforter
making me feel warm, safe and secure
A friend is like an angel without the wings
where I can say and do anything
A friend is like an endless ocean of love
a shooting star streaking down from above

What would we do without friends?
True friends are like rare and valuable gems.
I created this heart painting with joyful friendship in mind.
What makes a person a good friend?
For me, it is someone with large doses of compassion and curiosity--
compassion for themselves and others. An overall sense of kindness.
A sense of wonder about absolutely everything.
It also helps to share similar ways you like to spend your time.
And, of course, someone who will allow ME to talk 50% of the time we're together
and really listen !
And they will talk the other 50% of the time and I will really listen,
without an agenda of trying to change them.
And the talking is about truly wanting to find SOLUTIONS to challenges in life,
not just useless whining or gossiping:)
And no advice giving unless it is asked for...
often a dog or cat is better at this than a human!
